COMPANY News

We've got a lot going on, here's just a few of the highlights!

CI Awards 2021.jpgHeavy equipment supplier of the YEar

We're delighted to have won Heavy Equipment Supplier of the Year in the Catering Insight Awards for 2021. We were up against strong opposition in the form of Charvet, Hoshizaki, Meiko and QualityFry and were delighted to win, especially as it was voted for by the UK dealer network, who work with all the major manufacturers. The award is recognition of how well we have supported our dealers during these challenging last 12-18 months. Voters were especially impressed by the number and variety of new products we have launched in this time, showing our commitment to new product development and innovation.

This is a great achievement for everyone at Falcon and gives us a great platform to move into 2022, where we’ll be looking to build on all the many successes and Falcon Firsts that we’ve seen in 2021 with some great new products and initiatives.

hydrogen products

With the whole world seemingly talking about minimising their carbon emissions we have been working with Enertek International on a range of hydrogen-ready appliances and are incredibly proud to be the first to be able to offer hydrogen-powered equipment to the market. Our R&D department, alongside the team at Enertek have done a brilliant job in developing the appliances and gaining the necessary approvals and certification.  The product line-up includes a new variant of its award-winning Dominator Six Burner G3101 Range as well as chargrills, griddles, grills, and fryers.  The range of products is designed for on and off-grid use to support the UK Governments’ efforts in scaling up low carbon hydrogen supply.

Pacos.jpgF900 installs

Our F900 Series has been going from strength to strength in recent times, with a number of suites being installed. One good example is Cameron House, where the catering team visited the development kitchen and came away from there impressed with how the F900 equipment looked and performed, with the result being an order of equipment for two of their kitchens. These were installed a few weeks ago now and the chefs are very happy with their new equipment! Same goes for Pacos in Perth.  They took delivery of a 5m long run of equipment (some of you may remember it being built up and suited in the factory) and have been delighted with the performance, robustness and flexibility of the equipment.

vario-Therm meal delivery Trolleys

We've now got 6 different models available and our new Business Development Manager for the healthcare sector Adam Wilkinson is working with a number of different hospitals who have taken units on trial. These trials have been going very well and we're hopeful that this sector will be a source of major growth in the coming months. We're going into a market where we haven't traditionally had the products to compete before so it was always going to be a challenge to break in, but we are very confident that our products are better than the competition and future orders will reflect that.

Restaurant-Show.jpgExhibitions & events

September saw the resumption of in-person exhibitions after the enforced break due to COVID, After none in over 18 months we were suddenly faced with a whole range of events in the space of just a few weeks, including 3 one day roadshows aimed at the care sector; the LACA (Local Authority Caterers Association) which focusses on school meals and the Restaurant Show, a 3-day event in London where we showcased many of our latest products, including NABOO combis, ScanHeat microwaves and high-speed ovens. It was also the perfect platform for the new range of convection ovens to make their debut. Our stand was the busiest at the entire show and lots of sales leads were generated.

Customer Area Revamp

Showroom.jpgYou may have noticed that we've been revamping many of the customer-facing areas such as reception, the Boardroom and the Showroom. All three areas were badly in need of an upgrade, with the furniture dated and not in keeping with our position as a market leader, with innovative and advanced products! We've modernised the boardroom with some new furniture, a glass partition and a lick of paint, while the big reception desk has been replaced by a more modern, smaller alternative and more equipment has been moved in there, acting like a mini showroom. The main showroom, which before featured rows of equipment, has been changed to a more exhibition-style layout, focussing on the different market sectors we operate in. Equipment always proved difficult to move in and out of here so we've redesigned it so it doesn't really need any.

Serving from servery.jpgApetito Contract

After many months of product trials and negotiations, we're delighted to have been awarded the contract to be the official equipment supplier for Apetito, one of the UK's leading providers of meals to care homes, hospitals and schools.  This contract is worth a significant amount and shows the importance of the new Vario-Therm products that we introduced earlier this year - serveries, meal delivery trolleys and regen ovens in particular, as these are the core products the contract is based on.

Falcon Firsts in 2021

We've been at the forefront of a lot of new initiatives this year:

  • First UK manufacturer to achieve UKCA accreditation
  • First to offer a sensor-based safety system to prevent low oil fryer fires (Fryer Angel)
  • First to offer hydrogen-ready equipment
  • First to provide an electronic, fully interactive price list
  • First to offer a multi-brand, connectivity solution for inside and outside of the kitchen

The above are just some of the highlights of what's been a year of evolution and innovation for us, despite the many challenges we've faced.
